It is believed that the Canadian government made a huge mistake. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the security of this nation’s citizens is not safe. Recently many people raised the question of how the government handled national security. The major point of concern is the US-Canada border. 

The concerning example of the father-son incident. Both of them belong to the Egyptian who were arrested due to the accusation of planning a terrorist attack in Toronto. The father who was seen in an ISIS propaganda video in 2015 came to Canada in 2018. And in 2024 he got citizenship. There are many criminal records of this person. Despite all of these facts that his criminal data linked to ISIS the Canadian government gave him citizenship. However the authorities claimed that they had thoroughly checked him before granted citizenship. This permission raises many questions about the government’s responsibility. How with this type of act, the government protects the citizens. 

Furthermore, a hearing was also held in the Canadian House of Commons, many members of the Conservative party strongly criticized the Trudea’s government decision. People said how they allied such a criminal person to live in Canada and also granted him citizenship. They argue that someone linked to ISIS should never have been allowed to live in Canada. All of these are genuine because Canadian people also deserve safety in their own country. And the government fails to fulfill their demands and make them feel safe and secure. 

One of the officers of the Canada border stated that officers did the best they could with the information they had at the time. However, they are also not sure if they could have collected more data to make a good decision. 

However, the case of  Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi and his son raises serious concerns. In 2018, Eliddi came to Canada on a visit visa and got refugee status. In 2021 he got permanent residency. And in May 2024, he finally became a citizen of Canada. Despite this he and his son face many blames. It includes planning to commit murder for the benefit of the terrorist group ISIS.

Canada immigration and Security system 

This situation shows that there might be weaknesses in how the immigration and security systems work, which need to be improved to keep people safe.

According to Conservative Party of Canada, “This was allowed to happen even though Eldidi is alleged to have appeared dismembering a prisoner in an ISIS video published in 2015.”

Furthermore, the Canadian government is not handling this situation with good experience. According to the government they had not seen any video posted online in June 2015 that was linked to ISIS propaganda. Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc admitted that the Canadian government could not have knowledge about the video. It wasn’t until July, when French authorities warned Canada, that the suspects were finally arrested. Without this message from France many citizens of Canada are not secure. 

Also this incident clearly highlights that that Government does not fulfill their duty on border and fails to fight against terrorism 

They argue that this near-miss attack reveals weaknesses in Canada’s security measures. Additionally, just a month later, the RCMP arrested a Canadian woman for allegedly joining ISIS in Syria, further highlighting ongoing security risks.

Furthermore, RCMP arrested a reporter in Canada after asking why the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) isn’t labeled a terrorist group. Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu stated that this arrest was not fair and the government violates human rights by arresting those journalists who ask the tough questions. However the United State labeled the IRGC organization, a terrorist group. 

Furthermore, the United States also worried about the border security because Canada allowed Gazans to enter. And follow a Hamas attack on Israel. 

This has raised concerns because Hamas has been linked to more violence and threats. Canadian officials say security is not at risk, but there is disagreement.

So, it is important to improve border security. From the past few years the United State officials also arrested many terrorists, approximately 1100, at the northern border. One of the terrorists was linked to Iran.  Many Americans are worried because these people are on the US terrorist watch list and came from Canada. People are asking why Canadian authorities aren’t stopping them before they try to enter the US They’re also concerned about how many others might have slipped through unnoticed.
