He claimed that a simple end to hostilities without such assurances would probably result in more Russian aggression. Reports suggest that Trump and Putin have had phone conversations to discuss potential paths toward a negotiated settlement. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stressed the need for Europe’s support for Ukraine and raised the prospect of further sanctions on Russia to promote talks, though specifics of the discussion have not been made public. To address the crisis and possible solutions, top US officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, are expected to attend some international forums, including the Munich Security Conference.
