A Turkish state-controlled corporation claims to have built a supersonic target drone that is now being tested in flight.
According to a promotional pamphlet from Turkish Aerospace Industries, the supersonic drone is part of the SIMSEK High Speed Target Drone Project. TAI has also created algorithms and payloads as part of the effort.
The drone, according to a business representative, will be utilized in electronic attack, electronic support, and decoy operations.
The 3-meter-long drone, which is now undergoing flight testing, is powered by a mini-turbojet engine that allows it to fly as least as fast as Mach 1.
TAI’s other drones, the Anka and the Aksungur, as well as other aerial assets, will launch the target drone. The ground stations of Anka and Aksungur will be in charge of it.
