The military actions of Israel in the northern West Bank are not just about responding to the conflict in Gaza. This operation is much more as compared to counter-terrorism. One of the senior members, who closely belongs to the security department, claimed Israel had already planned this attack even before the Gaza war.
Fatah said that the Gaza war delayed this plan and Israel got time to perfect its strategies. First of all, Israel observed how much destruction the United States and Europe would bear in Gaza. Then he felt confident to bring the same level of destruction to the West Bank.
The main aim of this attack is to crush the West Bank. After this Palestine lost hope of having their state. This is the clear message from Bezalel Smotrich, a far-right minister who is trying to move control of the West Bank from military to civilian rule. Not only local resistance groups are the target of this operation.
The attacks on places like Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas, along with the blockades of hospitals and arrests of medics, are aimed at the entire Palestinian population, just like what happened in Gaza.
Nowadays the West Bank is suffering from the very worst situation. Bulldozers are not just clearing paths but also target vital water pipes and drains. They know very well that this will cause unbearable disease in the next 6 months, the same as in Gaza. Many people believe that this is Smotrich’s plan to silently take over the West Bank. Also, it aims to force Palestinians into smaller areas under Palestinian Authority control, or even into Jordan. However, it may be the bigger plan of government.
After military action began, Israel’s foreign minister, Israel Katz, talked about moving people out, calling it a “temporary evacuation.” Smotrich revealed that Prime Minister Netanyahu fully supports his plan to change how the West Bank is governed. Many Jewish Israelis seem to accept this, thinking if they could move over two million people from Gaza with international approval, they could do the same in the West Bank without any restrictions.
Gaza has also sped up its operation to take over the West Bank, putting it into overdrive. The line between the Israeli military and settlers has completely disappeared since the October 7 attack. Settlers are now becoming part of the army whose plan is to destroy Palestinian homes. For this purpose they carry weapons. After the Hamas attack, many Palestinians lost their lives just after the 10 days of attack. 62 people were dead and many injured in settler attacks.
The goal is clear Israel wants to force Palestine to leave their homes and farms.
Eight entire communities, with 87 families, including 136 children, were forced to leave their homes within a week.
Some voices in Israel’s security warn that this growing violence is deeply damaging the country. The attacks on refugee camps aim to erase the last traces of Palestinian claims to return. The Palestinian Authority seems unable to respond because there’s no unified plan. The sad reality is that this might be exactly what’s happening.
No red lines
Palestinians also suffer from one of the other problems: they do not have any leader who guides the people. In this conflict, many surprising events were explored. It includes the First Intifada and Operation al-Aqsa Flood. The citizens of Palestine are strong enough to bear all of these problems. But it is very concerning that people across the world accept the act of genocide. This acceptance badly impacts the future of everyone.
For almost a year, many images of dead bodies were shared on social media. These horrors are intentionally shared in Arab and Muslim communities rather than in Israel or Western media.
The violence is not only happening in Palestine but also in other parts of the world. It represents that everyone is heading into a darker and more brutal time
