In this modern age dependence on the information technology of different infrastructures and services increases the risks of various threats. One of the major risks is the increasing threat of cybercrime. Due to the lack of Information and communication technology(ICT), the military system faces many disadvantages. The government now faces many challenges to fight against these growing cyber threats. Scoring to Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, to fight against cybercrime and terrorism, the BRICS countries need to make plans and work together. According to him, countries should share their opinions to get security and find the solution to terrorism complexities.

A recent report from the United Nations shows that every year approximately more than 1.5 million people become the victims of cybercrimes. This led to $1 billion in losses. Due to the increasing importance of cybersecurity, Azerbaijan has officially applied to join the BRICS. This request highlights that Azerbaijan wants to strengthen its cybersecurity system.

The focus of the cybercriminals is not only banks but they also target the energy sectors. Azerbaijan is making efforts to become the leader in energy sectors and growing its energy projects. The nation also make efforts towards a sustainable economy. This is why it could become a target of cyberattacks. This creates a strong need for cybersecurity in the country.

Cyberthreats and terrorism

In today’s world, cyber threats and terrorism are closely linked to each other. Terrorist groups now utilize the digital platform to commit different types of crimes such as hacking data and even planning attacks. To deal with such a situation, the need of counter-terrorism efforts must include solid cybersecurity measures. Protecting critical systems, securing communication channels, and having quick responses to cyberattacks are essential.

Additionally, global cooperation is key in areas like data security and artificial intelligence. China’s foreign minister has emphasized that organizations like the UN and BRICS need to work together to improve global systems and tackle these modern threats more effectively.

To solve worldwide issues, countries with shared interests need to work on a single platform. The BRICS nations have the power and economic resources to strengthen the international cooperation. The BRICS+ model includes these five nations: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. All of these nations should have open discussions to fight terrorism and other cybercrimes. They should also improve their abilities by treating all issues fairly without any political benefit.

At the same time, with increasing cybercrimes, data security is one of the growing concerns. AI is a good way to solve problems. It can improve security by detecting threats quickly. But it is also important to know that criminals also use AI platforms to create more advanced attacks.

The important step is to find balance. Organizations must keep in mind the risk of danger created through AI. But they can also use this platform to boost security. Data protection strategies need to evolve alongside AI to keep sensitive information safe.

What is the objective of BRICS+?

Vladimir Putin, the Russian President recently announced that 34 nations want to join BRICS. However, the group will discuss membership at the Kazan Summit.

BRICS+ is the modern form of BRICS group. 5 nations formed it: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The idea is to bring in more emerging economies with similar goals, especially in economic growth and global governance.

The major purpose of the BRICS+ is to boost cooperation in different areas. It includes trade, investment, and political cooperation. BRICS+ also has aimed to enhance its global influence and come together to solve shared problems. However, there are many challenges to managing the different interests of various nations. However, BRICS+ offers many new economic opportunities that prove beneficial for the rest of the world.

Nations that want to join BRICS have different aims. Some have objectives to reduce their dependence on the United States dollar for trade. At the same time, others have aimed to change the global power structure. Additionally, some nations hope to shift from economies based on raw materials to those focused on technology and innovation.

In today’s growing modern age, the need for cybersecurity measures is increasing day by day. Global cooperation is needed to fight the new threats of terrorism. BRICS nations can tackle these challenges.

By enhancing collaboration and using the BRICS+ model, along with advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, these countries adopt a proactive approach to global security. Azerbaijan’s interest in joining BRICS highlights the importance of these issues. As nations pursue their goals, focusing on cybersecurity and counter-terrorism will be vital for a safer world.
